Take a look at Loudoun County, Virginia. Because they embraced the tech infrastructure boom, the county's data center industry now contributes a staggering $890 million annually in local tax revenue. Because data centers don't require heavy municipal services, the profit margin is insane. For every $1 of tax revenue a data center pays, the county only spends $0.04 to support them. Loudoun County used this massive surplus to build 36 new public schools and invest $1 billion in local road improvements, all while keeping real estate taxes significantly lower than neighboring counties.
